Histree
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
This page describes what information the Histree app and website (“Histree,” “we,” “us”) handle and where it goes. It describes how Histree works on the date above. Your use of Histree is also covered by the Terms of Use.
What you give us
- Your email address, so we can send you a sign-in code.
- Your family tree: names, birth years, places, relationships and the other facts you or your relatives add.
- Memories: videos, voice recordings, photos and written stories that you or your relatives upload, plus comments, reactions, questions and recipes.
Relatives you invite can add information about you, and you can add information about them.
Who can see it
What you add is shared with the family on your tree, following the choices on each memory (for example the whole family, close family, or specific people). Sealed messages are kept from their recipients until they open. Histree has no public profiles and family trees are not shown to search engines.
Where it is stored
Histree uses these service providers to run:
- Neon (database) for your account and family tree.
- Cloudflare R2 (file storage) for videos, recordings and photos.
- Vercel (hosting) for the website and the service the app talks to.
- Resend (email) to send sign-in codes.
- Apple and Google deliver the app and may collect their own data, such as crash reports, under their own policies.
These providers are located in the United States.
What we don’t do
- Histree has no advertising and does not sell personal information.
- Histree does not use your content to train artificial-intelligence models.
Camera, microphone and photos
The app asks for your camera and microphone when you record a memory, and for your photo library when you choose a photo or video to add. You can turn these off anytime in your device settings.
Deleting your information
- You can delete any memory you uploaded from inside the app.
- You can delete your account at the bottom of the Me tab (Delete my account). That removes your email, your sign-in, and the memories, comments and recipes you uploaded. Your leaf (your name and basic facts) stays on your family’s tree, the same as a relative who never signed up. If you were the last person on the family tree, the whole tree and its files are deleted.
- You can also email support@histree.com to ask for deletion.
Children
A person must be at least 13 to have their own Histree account. Parents and relatives can add younger children to the family tree and look after their leaf.
Security
No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, and Histree cannot guarantee the security of anything you add. Think about what you upload.
